Synopsis

In this presentation we will view the Department of Energy (DOE) Fire Protection Program from many different angles.

The First Responder Subcommittee, EFCOG Fire Protection, Headquarters and the Fire Safety Committee have all contributed to our community over the last year.  We'll first look at what our key organizations have accomplished over the last year, before diving into the Fire Protection Annual Summary.  This report examines calendar year (CY) 2023 fire data, and includes information submitted by 33 DOE elements representing approximately 99 percent of DOE's facility and property valuation.

Key Observations Include.

  • The DOE-wide 2023 Fire Loss Rate
  • The number of DOE fire protection-related (fire and non-fire) events.
  • Major fire losses at DOE sites
  • Water-based system actuations costing $635,350 in monetary losses.
  • The number of fire protection-related occurrences reported into ORPS.
  • Total numbers of different types of fire department responses.
  • Major equipment purchases.
