Focusing efforts to mitigate impacts and protect against threats and hazards requires a deep understanding of social, economic, and environmental systems. By using geographic information system (GIS) technology with data-driven insights, NNSA can better prepare, respond and recover from significant events.
NA-40’s ArcGIS Online system provides powerful mapping and analytic capabilities to identify real-time incidents near labs, plants, and sites. Real-time GIS allows for the continuous collection and display of weather, wildfires, and other incidents while simultaneously analyzing their threat to DOE/NNSA assets. In addition, notifications and alerts are significantly enhanced by enabling automation of targeted communication to the right people at the right time, improving situational awareness, and facilitating rapid decision-making.
GIS also supports collaboration among our sites by providing a multi-use platform for data entry and sharing, analysis, and visualization. Stakeholders can enter and utilize data in real-time fostering a common operating picture that is crucial during emergencies.
In summary, real-time GIS plays a pivotal role in NA-40’s emergency management by delivering timely, actionable insights, enhancing communication, and promoting collaboration among stakeholders.
Join us as we discuss NA-40’s current GIS capabilities and upcoming Enterprise GIS deployment; and participate in populating a real-time operational dashboard.
