Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified several acute toxicity data (LDLo, LD50, TDLo) and exposure limits (OEL-STELs, MAK-STEL, TWAs). Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. Toxicity data were selected according to type of exposure, species, and route according to the hierarchies stated in Sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2, and evaluated using factors in Tables 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4. Multiple human (male & female) oral LDLo and TDLo toxicity data were available for the TEEL-3 and TEEL-2 bases; however, they were intermittent exposures ranging from two to six weeks. Instead, higher priority LD50 data were evaluated for the TEEL-3 basis, and the most preferred species, a rat oral LD50, was selected. The TEEL-2 value was derived according to Table 3.5. A 15-minute OEL-STEL (Sweden) was selected as the TEEL-1.

This review generated PAC-2 and PAC-3 values consistent with Rev. 29A and a PAC-1 value inconsistent with Rev. 29A. The Rev. 29A TEEL-1 basis was a TLV-TWA while the current TEEL-1 is an OEL-STEL (see Note, Table 3.5). The TEEL-3 and TEEL-2 values, source, and methodology are consistent.
