Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified exposure limits (TLV-TWA, REL-C) and acute toxicity data (mouse LD50). Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. Toxicity data were selected according to type of exposure, species, and route according to the hierarchies stated in Sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2, and evaluated using factors in Tables 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4. The TLV-TWA was selected as the TEEL-1 basis. The REL-C was selected as the TEEL-2. Although acute toxicity data was evaluated as a TEEL-3 basis, the resultant TEELs were less conservative that a TEEL-2 derived valued from an exposure limit (Section 3.1, REL-C). As such, the TEEL-3 was derived according to Table 3.5.
• TEEL-1 = TLV-TWA (0.1 ppm) x 3
• TEEL-2 = REL-C (4.1 mg/m3, 0.5 ppm)
• TEEL-3 = TEEL-2 x 6
This review generated TEEL values consistent with Rev. 29A.
