Technical Basis
Analysts used toxicity data for erbium(III) nitrate, applying Table 3.4:
Exposure and toxicity values were not available for erbium(III) nitrate pentahydrate. The compound adjustment factor (CAF) for this agent, excluding the hydrates, was used, resulting in a TEEL-3 of 88 mg/m3.

Other calculational avenues were explored, such as the CAF of nitric acid and HHRs for erbium nitrate pentahydrate, both resulting in less conservative values.

TEEL-1 = TEEL-2/11
TEEL-2 = TEEL-3/6
TEEL-3: LD50, Rat, ip, (MW adjusted dose from 177 mg/kg of erbium(III) nitrate)

Both analysts converged with the values presented in Rev 29A and did not result in a change.
TEELs were rounded to two significant figures and converted from referenced units to either ppm or mg/m3, providing both values.
