Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified the following toxicity exposures: LC50 and several LD50 (mouse, rat) toxicity data for oral and intraperitoneal routes. Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. The toxicity data was evaluated using factors in Tables 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4 and scaled to a 60-minute equivalent using the ten Berge equation (Section 3.3.4.) The LC50 was selected as the TEEL-3 basis because it was the most preferred source. TEEL-1 and TEEL-2 values were calculated according to Table 3.5.
• TEEL-1 = TEEL-2/11
• TEEL-2 = TEEL-3/6
• TEEL-3 = Estimated from rat 4-hr LC50 (3330 µL/m3, Density = 1.15)
This review generated TEEL values less conservative than those in Rev. 29A. In Rev. 29A, a rat oral LD50 was the reported TEEL-3 basis. In the current review, a LC50 was selected instead, as it is the most preferred toxicity route (Table 3.1).
