Technical Basis
A review of available sources did not identify exposure limits or acute toxicity data for ferric hydroxide. Reported GHS health hazard ratings (H315 and H319, Category 2; H335, Category 3) indicate a mid-level health hazard, approximately equivalent to an HHR=2. However, this chemical does not meet GHS hazard criteria in 60.6% of surveyed reports. Considering this, analysts instead selected the PNOS TLV-TWA as the TEEL-1 basis (PNOS, Section 3.5.2). TEEL-3 and TEEL-2 values were derived according to Table 3.5.
• PAC-1 = TEEL-1 = TLV-TWA (PNOS, 10 mg/m3) x 3
• PAC-2 = TEEL-2 = TEEL-1 x 11
• PAC-3 = TEEL-3 = TEEL-2 x 6

This review generated PAC values consistent with Rev. 29A*..
