Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified exposure limits (AEGL-3, AEGL-2, TWAs, MAK-STEL) for this hexane. The AEGLs were selected as the TEEL-2 and TEEL-3 due to their priority among the emergency exposure limits (Section 1). The MAK-STEL was selected as the TEEL-1.
• TEEL-1 = MAK-STEL
• TEEL-2 = AEGL-2
• TEEL-3 = AEGL-3
This review generated TEEL-1 values inconsistent with Rev. 29A. In Rev. 29A, the TEEL-1 was derived from the AEGL-2 according to Table 3.5; however, the current recommendation used a MAK-STEL since it is a higher priority source. The TEEL-2 and TEEL-3 methodology and values remain consistent. Note: The AEGL-2 values require “safety considerations against the hazard(s) of explosion(s)” (≥50% LEL). The AEGL-3 values require “safety considerations against the hazard(s) of explosion(s)” (≥50% LEL).
