Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified exposure limits for this chemical including an AEGL-2, AEGL-3, TLV-TWA, and an OEL-TWA (Germany). The AEGLs were selected as the TEEL-2 and TEEL-3 due to their priority among the emergency exposure limits (Section 1). Due to insufficient data, an AEGL-1 does not exist for this chemical, therefore the TWAs were investigated as the TEEL-1 basis. Using the TLV-TWA (0.05 ppm) resulted in a TEEL-1 > TEEL-2 therefore, the OEL-TWA (Germany) was selected as the TEEL-1 basis and derived according to Table 3.5.
• TEEL-1 = OEL-TWA (Germany; 0.015 ppm, 0.05 mg/m3)
• TEEL-2 = AEGL-2
• TEEL-3 = AEGL-3
This review generated TEEL values consistent with Rev. 29A. The Rev. 29A TEEL-1 source was a MAK-TWA, while the current TEEL-1 source is an OEL-TWA (Germany) of the same value. The minor difference in the Rev. 29A reported TEEL-2 value in units of mg/m3 may be due to conversion and rounding of this value, instead of use of the source value. Values in units of mg/m3 are reported as published in the technical support document Table 5-1, per handbook guidance (Section 3.4.7.2).
