Technical Basis
A review of available sources did not identify exposure limits or acute toxicity data for 4-(2-hydroxyethyl)-1-piperazineethanesulfonic acid. GHS data was evaluated, but the chemical does not meet GHS hazard criteria for 95.6% of all reports and is therefore not classified. Additionally, toxicity data indicates that no rats died when exposed to a dose of >2000 mg/kg. Considering this, the PNOS TLV-TWA was selected as the TEEL-1 basis (PNOS, Section 3.5.2). TEEL-3 and TEEL-2 values were derived according to Table 3.5.
• PAC-1 = TEEL-1 = TLV-TWA (PNOS, 10 mg/m3) x 3
• PAC-2 = TEEL-2 = TEEL-1 x 11
• PAC-3 = TEEL-3 = TEEL-2 x 6
This review generated PAC consistent with Rev. 29A*.
