Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified exposure limits (TWAs) for indium compounds (CASRN: 7440-74-6). Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. The TLV-TWA for indium compounds was selected as the TEEL-1 basis and a compound adjustment factor was applied to (Section 3.2.2). TEEL-2 and TEEL-3 values were derived according to Table 3.5.
• TEEL-1 = MW-adjusted TLV-TWA (indium compounds, as indium; CASRN: 7440-74-6, 0.1 mg/m3)
• TEEL-2 = TEEL-1 x 11
• TEEL-3 = TEEL-2 x 6
This review generated TEEL values that are inconsistent with Rev. 29A. The Rev. 29A and current source (TLV-TWA) and methodology (molecular weight adjustment, Table 3.5) are consistent; the difference in values appears to be due to the use of a molecular weight for a similar chemical (H4In2O, 249.67) instead of the molecular weight for diindium oxide, as reported by NIST (245.635).
