Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified rat oral LD50 toxicity data and exposure limits (MAK-STEL, MAK-C, OEL-STELs, OEL-TWAs). Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. The rat oral LD50 was selected as the TEEL-3 basis and was evaluated using factors in Tables 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4. The MAK-C (Germany DFG, Ceiling) was selected as the TEEL-2. The MAK-STEL (Germany DFG, 15-minute average value) was selected as the TEEL-1.
• PAC-1 = TEEL-1 = MAK-STEL
• PAC-2 = TEEL-2 = MAK-C
• PAC-3 = TEEL-3 = Rat oral LD50 (224 mg/kg)
This review generated PAC values inconsistent with Rev. 29A. The Rev. 29A and current TEEL-3 basis are consistent, a rat oral LD50; the minor difference may be due to rounding. The Rev. 29A and current TEEL-2 basis are consistent, a MAK-C; however, the recommended basis is a more conservative MAK-C value. In Rev. 29A, the TEEL-1 basis was the MAK-TWA, while the current basis is a higher priority MAK-STEL (Table 3.1).
