Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified the following: a Level of Concern (LOC) exposure limit and rat 240-min LC50 toxicity data. These sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. Toxicity data were evaluated using the type of exposure, species, and route preferability stated in Sections 3.3.1, and 3.3.2. The concentration is scaled to a 60-minute equivalent using the ten Berge equation (Section 3.3.4). The rat LC50 is chosen for TEEL-3 development and the LOC is chosen for TEEL-2. As data was insufficient to derive TEEL-1, the adjustment factors listed in Table 3.5 were applied.
• TEEL-1 = TEEL-2/11
• TEEL-2 = LOC
• TEEL-3 = Rat 240-min LC50 (2700 mg/m3)
This review generated TEEL values that are consistent with those in Rev. 29A.
