Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified the following: a LOC and acute toxicity data for various routes and species. Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. Toxicity data were selected according to type of exposure, species, and route according to the hierarchies stated in Sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2, and evaluated using factors in Tables 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4. The LOC was selected as the TEEL-2. Although a dog oral LD¬50 was explored as a TEEL-3 basis, it was not selected because 1) the TEEL value was less than the LOC, and 2) the handbook prioritizes published exposure limits for developing TEELs (Section 3.1). Instead, TEEL-3 and TEEL-1 were derived according to Table 3.5.
• TEEL-1 = TEEL-2/11
• TEEL-2 = LOC (0.02 g/m3)
• TEEL-3 = TEEL-2 x 6
This review generated TEEL values that are consistent with Rev. 29A.
