Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified a LOC and acute toxicity data (LC50, LD50). Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. Toxicity data were selected according to type of exposure, species, and route according to the hierarchies stated in Sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2, and evaluated using factors in Tables 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4. The rat LC50 was evaluated as a TEEL-3 basis, however a duration was not reported and there are alternate toxicity data available. Instead, the rat oral LD50, was selected as the TEEL-3 basis. The LOC was selected as the TEEL-2. The TEEL-1 value weas derived according to Table 3.5.

• TEEL-2 = LOC (0.0048 gm/m3)
• TEEL-3 = Rat oral LD50 (268 mg/kg)
The review generated a TEEL-3 that is inconsistent with Rev. 29A. The Rev. 29A TEEL-3 basis was a rat LC50 with an assumed duration of 4 hours; instead, analysts selected a more complete/reliable record, a rat oral LD50, which was selected as the TEEL-3 basis (Section 3.2.2). The Rev. 29A and current TEEL-2/TEEL-1 values, source, and methodology are consistent.
