Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified the following exposure limits: an IDLH (1990/1994) and TLV-STEL.
Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1, which resulted in the TLV-STEL for the TEEL-1 basis and the IDLH for the TEEL-3 basis. There was no change in the IDLH value between the original (1990) and revised values (1994). The TEEL-2 value was calculated according to Table 3.5.
• TEEL-1 = TLV-STEL (2 mg/m3)
• TEEL-2 = TEEL-3/6
• TEEL-3 = IDLH (1990/1994, 500 mg/m3)
This review generated TEEL-1 and TEEL-3 values that are consistent with Rev. 29A. In Rev. 29, the TEEL-2 basis was a rat intraperitoneal TDLo, which was not found during current research.
