Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified the following: a TLV-TWA and Level of Concern. Additionally, TLV-TWA and IDLH for Arsenic (7440-38-2) were evaluated as TEEL bases. Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. The Arsenic IDLH (1990) was selected as the TEEL-3 basis and adjusted with a compound adjustment factor (Section 3.2.2). The LOC for arsenous trichloride was selected as the TEEL-2. The TLV-TWA was selected as the TEEL-1 basis.
• TEEL-1 = TLV-TWA (0.2 mg/ m3) x 3
• TEEL-2 = LOC (0.01 g/m3)
• TEEL-3 = MW-adjusted IDLH (1990 for arsenic CASRN: 7440-38-2, 100 mg/m3)
This review generated TEEL-2 and TEEL-3 values that are consistent with those in Rev. 29A. The Rev. 29A TEEL-1 was derived from the TEEL-2, while the current TEEL-1 is based on an exposure limit.
