Technical Basis
A review of available sources was unable to find exposure limits or acute toxicity data for Permafluor-V. Limited information on Permafluor-V was found, and it was determined this chemical is no longer manufactured. From PAC records, this chemical is a liquid primarily consisting of toluene. As such, exposure limits for toluene (C7H8, CASRN: 108-88-3) were evaluated for TEEL development. The AEGLs for toluene were selected as the TEELs due to their usage priority among the emergency exposure limits (Section 1).
• TEEL-1 = AEGL-1 (toluene, CASRN: 108-88-3)
• TEEL-2 = AEGL-2 (toluene, CASRN: 108-88-3)
• TEEL-3 = AEGL-3 (toluene, CASRN: 108-88-3)
This review generated TEEL values consistent with Rev. 29A*.
Note: The AEGL-3 values require “safety considerations against the hazard(s) of explosion(s)” (≥10% LEL).
