Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified the following: toxicity data for rat LC ( lethal effect not specified) and rat LD50 for oral and intraperitoneal routes. These sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. Toxicity data were evaluated using the type of exposure, species, and route preferability stated in Sections 3.3.1, and 3.3.2. The LC data was not selected because the dose descriptor did not provide lethality effect (as in an LC50 or LCLo) and it was therefore determined to be unreliable (Section 3.3.1). Instead, the rat oral LD50 was selected as the TEEL-3 basis. TEEL-2 and TEEL-1 values were derived according to Table 3.5.

• TEEL-3 = Rat oral LD50 (100 mg/kg)
This recommendation differs from Rev. 29A. The prior TEEL-3 value was based on rat oral LD50 dose (670 mg/kg). The recommended TEEL-3 uses a more conservative rat oral LD50 dose (100 mg/kg) from the National Technical Information Service data available on PubChem. The prior TEEL-2 was based on rat oral TDLo data. This dose was not found during this analysis and the recommended TEEL-2 is therefore TEEL-3/6. The TEEL-1 remains TEEL-2/11.
