Technical Basis
A review of limited sources for potassium perchlorate identified mouse oral LD50 acute toxicity data. This toxicity data was selected as the TEEL-3 basis and evaluated using factors in Tables 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4. TEEL-2 and TEEL-1 values were derived according to Table 3.5.
• TEEL-1 = TEEL-2/11
• TEEL-2 = TEEL-3/6
• TEEL-3 = Mouse oral LD50 (3,621 mg/kg/day)
This review generated TEEL values inconsistent with Rev. 29A. The Rev. 29A TEEL-3 was a TEEL-3 for a similar chemical (sodium perchlorate, CASRN: 7601-89-0). The current TEEL-3 basis is toxicity data, mouse oral LD50, for potassium perchlorate resulting in a slightly lower TEEL-3 value. The Rev. 29A and current methodology used to derive TEEL-2 and TEEL-1 are the same, with different due to the change in TEEL-3.
