Technical Basis
A review of available sources did not identify exposure limits or acute toxicity data for potassium uranyl carbonate. Instead, exposure limits (IDLH (1990), STELs, TWAs) for uranium insoluble compounds (U, CASRN: 7440-61-1) were identified and evaluated since it is the more hazardous component of this chemical compound. Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. The IDLH was selected as the TEEL-3. The TLV-STEL was selected as the TEEL-1. A compound adjustment factor was applied to these exposure limits (Section 3.2.2). The TEEL-2 value was derived according to Table 3.5.
• PAC-1 = TEEL-1 = MW-adjusted TLV-STEL (uranium insoluble compounds, CASRN: 7440-61-1; 0.6 mg/m3)
• PAC-2 = TEEL-2 = TEEL-3/6
• PAC-3 = TEEL-3 = MW-adjusted IDLH (1990) (uranium insoluble compounds, CASRN: 7440-61-1; 30 mg/m3)
This review generated PAC values that are consistent with Rev. 29A*.
