Technical Basis
A review of available sources did not identify exposure limits for this chemical, but limited toxicity data was available. This included: LD50 rat oral and mouse intravenous doses. Toxicity data were selected according to the type of exposure, species, and route hierarchies stated in Sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2. A rat oral LD50 (1969) was selected as the TEEL-3 basis because it is the most recent of the two available rat oral LD50 data sources identified. The dose was converted to mg/kg using a density of 0.8834 g/mL. TEEL-2 and TEEL-1 were derived according to Table 3.5.
• TEEL-1 = TEEL-2 /11
• TEEL-2 = TEEL-3 / 6
• TEEL-3 = Rat oral LD50 (5950 uL/kg converted to 5256 mg/kg)
This review generated values that are slightly more conservative than those reported in Rev. 29A. The methodology in the current recommendation is consistent with Rev. 29A (rat oral LD50), however the dose previously reported as a TEEL-3 basis in Rev. 29A was not found during research.
