Technical Basis
Based on species and route preferability, along with data source age (1988), credibility, and dose prevalence, a LD50 rat oral value was chosen for TEEL-3 development.
Analysts used toxicity data, applying Table 3.4:
TEEL-1 = TEEL-2/11
TEEL-2 = TEEL-3/6
TEEL-3: LD50, Rat, Oral, Dose = 4440 mg/kg
Both analysts used the same methods and starting point data (LD50, rat, oral, dosage = 4440 mg/kg), resulting in the same values. These results are slightly less conservative than the values listed in Rev29A.
In the previous revision, data from an older reference (1967) and less preferable species (mouse) was chosen for TEEL-3 development.
The review resulted in a recommendation change from the values in Rev 29A.
TEELs were rounded to two significant figures and converted from referenced units to either ppm or mg/m3, providing both values.
