Technical Basis
Sodium argentate, or sodium dihydroxoargentate(I), is an inorganic salt of silver. A review of available sources identified soluble silver (CASRN: 7440-22-4) exposure limits (IDLH, TWAs) for silver which were evaluated for TEEL development. Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. The effective soluble silver IDLH (1990) was selected as the TEEL-3 and the TLV-TWA was selected as the TEEL-1 basis. A compound adjustment factor was applied to these exposure limits. The TEEL-2 value was derived according to Table 3.5.
• TEEL-1 = MW-adjusted TLV-TWA (soluble silver, CASRN: 7440-22-4; 0.01 mg/m3) x 3
• TEEL-2 = TEEL-3/6
• TEEL-3 = MW-adjusted IDLH (1990) (soluble silver, CASRN: 7440-22-4; 20 mg/m3)
This review generated TEEL-3 and TEEL-2 values inconsistent with Rev. 29A. The Rev. 29A TEEL-3 and TEEL-2 values were derived from the TEEL-1. The current TEEL-3 is an IDLH (1990) with an applied compound adjustment factor. The current TEEL-2 is derived from this TEEL-3. The Rev. 29A and current TEEL-1 values, basis, and methodology are consistent.
