Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified acute toxicity data (LDLo, LD50) for various species (rat, mouse, rabbit) and an LOC. Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. Toxicity data were selected according to type of exposure, species, and route according to the hierarchies stated in Sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2, and evaluated using factors in Tables 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4. A rat oral LDLo and mouse oral LD50 were evaluated for the TEEL-3 basis. Although the LD50 is a more preferred data type (LD50 > LDLo), when considering the preferable LOC as the TEEL-2 basis, the LD50 data resulted a TEEL-3 < TEEL-2. Instead, the rat LDLo, a more preferred species, was selected as the TEEL-3 basis. The LOC was selected as the TEEL-2. The TEEL-1 value was derived according to Table 3.5.
• PAC-1 = TEEL-1 = TEEL-2/11
• PAC-2 = TEEL-2 = LOC (0.00027 g/m3)
• PAC-3 = TEEL-3 = Rat oral LDLo (50 mg/kg)
This review generated PAC values that are consistent with Rev. 29A*.
