Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified ERPG values for a similar chemical, sodium hydroxide (CASRN: 1310-73-2). Given that sodium oxide reacts with water to produce sodium hydroxide, this was determined to be appropriate for TEEL development. The ERPGs were selected as the TEELs due to their priority among the emergency exposure limits (Section 1).
• TEEL-1 = ERPG-1 (sodium hydroxide, CASRN: 1310-73-2)
• TEEL-2 = ERPG-2 (sodium hydroxide, CASRN: 1310-73-2)
• TEEL-3 = ERPG-3 (sodium hydroxide, CASRN: 1310-73-2)
This review generated TEEL values consistent with those found in Rev. 29A.
