Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified a LOC and acute toxicity data (LC50, LD50, LDLo, TDLo) for several routes and species. Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. Toxicity data were selected according to type of exposure, species, and route according to the hierarchies stated in Sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2, and evaluated using factors in Tables 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4. The most preferred species and route toxicity data, a 4-hour rat LC50, was selected as the TEEL-3 basis and it was scaled to 60-minute equivalent using the ten Berge equation (Section 3.3.4). This LC50 dose is reported as a range (>0.051 ≤ 0.51 mg/mL/4H); analysts selected the lower range as the TEEL-3 basis, after considering the magnitude of other available toxicity data. The LOC was selected as the TEEL-2. The TEEL-1 value was derived according to Table 3.5.

This review generated PAC-3 and PAC-1 values inconsistent with Rev. 29A, and a PAC-2 consistent with Rev. 29A. The Rev. 29A TEEL-3 basis was a rat LDLo, while the current TEEL-3 basis is a rat LC50, a more preferred route (Section 3.3.2). The Rev. 29A TEEL-1 basis was a weight adjusted selenium TLV-TWA (CASRN: 7782-49-2), while the current TEEL-1 was derived from the TEEL-2 (Section 3.4.2). The Rev. 29A and current TEEL-2 value, source, and methodology are consistent.
