Technical Basis
A review of available sources did not identify exposure limits or acute toxicity data for this chemical. Instead, sodium hydroxide (CASRN: 1310-73-2) and potassium hydroxide (CASRN: 1310-58-3) were evaluated because these metal hydroxides are produced when the alloy is exposed to moisture. ERPG values for sodium hydroxide were identified. Additionally, a rat oral LD50 for potassium hydroxide was evaluated; resulting TEEL values were comparable to those of the sodium hydroxide ERPGs (TEEL-3 = 54 mg/m3, TEEL-2 = 9.0 mg/m3. TEEL-1= 0.82 mg/m3). The sodium hydroxide ERPGs were selected as the TEELs due to their priority among the emergency exposure limits (Section 1).
