Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified the following: mouse oral LD50 toxicity data, LOC, and IDLH (1990) for soluble thallium (CASRN: 7440-28-0). Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. Toxicity data were selected according to type of exposure, species, and route according to the hierarchies stated in Sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2, and evaluated using factors in Tables 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4. The IDLH (1990) was selected as the TEEL-3 and a compound adjustment factor was applied (Section 3.2.2). The LOC was selected as the TEEL-2. TheTEEL-1 value was derived according to Table 3.5.
• TEEL-1 = TEEL-2/11
• TEEL-2 = LOC (0.002 g/m3)
• TEEL-3 = MW-adjusted IDLH (1990, thallium (soluble compounds), CASRN: 7440-28-0, 20 mg/m3)
This review generated TEEL values that are consistent with Rev. 29A*.
