Technical Basis
A review of available sources did not identify exposure limits or acute toxicity data for uranyl fluoride. Instead, analysts evaluated soluble uranium exposure limits (U, CASRN: 7440-61-1, IDLH, STEL, TWAs) for TEEL development. Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. The 1990 and 1994 IDLH were evaluated; the 1990 IDLH is based on acute toxicity data, while the 1994 IDLH includes chronic toxicity data. Considering this, the 1990 IDLH was selected as the TEEL-3 basis (Table 3.1) and a compound adjustment factor was applied (Section 3.2.2). TEEL-2 value was derived according to Table 3.5. The TLV-STEL was selected as the TEEL-1 basis and a compound adjustment factor was applied (Section 3.2.2).
• PAC-1 = TEEL-1 = MW-adjusted TLV-STEL (soluble uranium compounds, CASRN: 7440-61-1, 1990, 0.6 mg/m3)
• PAC-2 = TEEL-2 = TEEL-3/6
• PAC-3 = TEEL-3 = MW-adjusted IDLH (1990, soluble uranium compounds, CASRN: 7440-61-1; 20 mg/m3)
This review generated PAC values consistent with Rev. 29A*.
