Technical Basis
A review of available sources did not identify acute toxicity data or exposure limits for cis-2-bromocyclohexanol. Reported GHS health hazards (H302, Category 4; H335, Category 3, H315, Category 2) indicate a mid-level health hazard, approximately equivalent to an HHR=2. In addition, analysts evaluated available rat and mouse toxicity data (LD50) for a similar chemical, cyclohexanol (CASRN: 108-93-0). Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. Toxicity data were selected according to type of exposure, species, and route according to the hierarchies stated in Sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2, and evaluated using factors in Tables 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4. The cyclohexanol LD50 toxicity data resulted in TEEL-3 values (280 mg/m3, 290 mg/m3) which indicated a more conservative approach is appropriate. Considering this, analysts assumed an HHR=3 as the TEEL-3 basis (Section 3.4.5). TEEL-2 and TEEL-1 values were derived according to Table 3.5.
• PAC-1 = TEEL-1 = TEEL-2/11
• PAC-2 = TEEL-2 = TEEL-3/6
• PAC-3 = TEEL-3 = HHR=3
This review generated PAC values that are inconsistent with Rev. 29A. The Rev. 29A TEEL-3 was weight adjusted AEGLs for bromine (CASRN: 7726-95-6); in this review, analysts evaluated GHS health hazard ratings for cis-2-bromocyclohexanol and a more structurally similar chemical, cyclohexanol (CASRN: 108-93-0), to determine an appropriate HHR level, assuming a HHR=3 as the TEEL-3 basis, from which the TEEL-2 and TEEL-1 values were derived (Table 3.5).
