Technical Basis
A review of available sources did not identify exposure limits or acute toxicity data for 4-bromophenyl phenyl ether. Instead, acute toxicity data for a structurally similar chemical, 4,4'-dibromodiphenyl ether (CASRN: 2050-47-7; C12H8Br2O) was evaluated for TEEL development. A mouse intraperitoneal LD50 for 4,4'-dibromodiphenyl ether was selected as the TEEL-3 basis (Section 3.4.6) and evaluated using factors in Tables 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4. TEEL-2 and TEEL-1 values were derived according to Table 3.5.

This review generated TEEL values inconsistent with Rev. 29A. The Rev. 29A TEEL-3 basis was a 4-hour rat LCLo not found during the current review; instead, a mouse LD50 for a similar chemical (4,4'-dibromodiphenyl ether, CASRN: 2050-47-7) was the TEEL-3 basis. The Rev. 29A and current TEEL-2 and TEEL-1 methodology used is consistent, with difference in values due to the change in TEEL-3.
