Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified the following: a LOC and LD50 (mouse, rat) acute toxicity data. Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. Toxicity data were selected according to type of exposure, species, and route according to the hierarchies stated in Sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2, and evaluated using factors in Tables 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4. The LOC was selected as the TEEL-2 basis and the TEEL-3 was derived from TEEL-2. Although there was available toxicity data, the priority of inhalation exposure limits in TEEL development and the physical characteristics of the carbachol chloride, a solid with a high melting point, led analysts to reject the available acute toxicity data as potential TEEL-3 bases. The TEEL-3 and TEEL-1 values were derived according to Table 3.5.
• TEEL-1 = TEEL-2/11
• TEEL-2 = LOC (0.015 g/m3)
• TEEL-3 = TEEL-2 x 6
This review generated TEEL values consistent with Rev. 29A.
