Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified exposure limits (AEGL-2, TLV-TWA) and acute toxicity data (LC50, LD50) for several species and routes. The AEGL-2 was selected as the TEEL-2 due to its priority among the emergency exposure limits (Section 1). Acute toxicity data was evaluated as TEEL-3 bases; however, these resulted in TEEL-3 < TEEL-2. Instead, The TEEL-3 value was derived according to Table 3.5. The TLV-TWA was selected as the TEEL-1 basis.
• TEEL-1 = TLV-TWA (0.5 ppm) x 3
• TEEL-2 = AEGL-2
• TEEL-3 = TEEL-2 x 6
This review generated TEEL-1 and TEEL-2 ppm values consistent Rev. 29A. Minor differences in TEEL-2 mg/m3 may be due to rounding. The Rev. 29A TEEL-3 was a rat LDLo not identified during this review; instead, the TEEL-3 was derived from the TEEL-2.
