Technical Basis
A review of limited sources identified rat oral LD50 toxicity data and GHS health hazard ratings for 3-chloroperoxybenzoic acid. Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. Reported GHS health hazard ratings (H314, H317, and H318, Category 1; H315 and H319, Category 2, H335, Category 3) indicate a mid to high-level hazard, ranging between an HHR=3 and HHR=2 (79 mg/m3 and 790 mg/m3, respectively). Analysts selected the rat oral L LD50 as the TEEL-3 basis and evaluated using factors in Tables 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4. The resulting TEEL is within the GHS analysis range. TEEL-2 and TEEL-1 values were derived according to Table 3.5.

This review generated PAC values inconsistent with Rev. 29A. The Rev. 29A TEEL-1 basis was a TLV-TWA for particles not otherwise specified (Section 3.5.2), from which the TEEL-2 and TEEL-3 were derived (Table 3.5). The current TEEL-3 basis is acute toxicity data, rat oral LD50, from which TEEL-2 and TEEL-1 were derived (Table 3.5).
