Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified AEGLs for a similar chemical, chloropicrin (CASRN: 76-06-2). The AEGLs were selected as the TEELs due to their priority among the emergency exposure limits (Section 1). To estimate a combined molecular weight, an equimolar mixture of chloropicrin (164.39 Da) and chloromethane (CASRN: 74-87-3, 50.49 Da) was assumed.
• TEEL-1 = AEGL-1 (chloropicrin, CASRN: 76-06-2)
• TEEL-2 = AEGL-2 (chloropicrin, CASRN: 76-06-2)
• TEEL-3 = AEGL-3 (chloropicrin, CASRN: 76-06-2)
This review generated TEEL ppm values that are consistent with Rev. 29A. The Rev. 29A and current TEEL bases are consistent (AEGLs); however, Rev. 29A incorrectly reports the same values in units of mg/m3. The current TEELs values reported in units of mg/m3 were converted and rounded from the reported ppm values, according to Section 3.4.7.2.
