Technical Basis
A review of available sources identified exposure limits (IDLH (1990), TLV-TWA) and a cat LC50. Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. Toxicity data were selected according to type of exposure, species, and route according to the hierarchies stated in Sections 3.3.1, 3.3.2, and evaluated using factors in Tables 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4. The IDLH (1990) and cat LC50 were evaluated as the TEEL-3 basis, however, deriving the TEEL-2 from these bases resulted in TEEL-2 < TEEL-1 when considering the TLV-TWA as the TEEL-1 basis. Considering a valid TEEL-2 basis was not found during the review and according to Section 3.4.2, the TLV-TWA was selected as the TEEL-1 basis. TEEL-2 and TEEL-3 values were derived according to Table 3.5.
• TEEL-1 = TLV-TWA (0.2 ppm) x 3
• TEEL-2 = TEEL-1 x 11
• TEEL-3 = TEEL-2 x 6
This review generated TEEL ppm values consistent with Rev. 29A. The minor difference in the reported TEEL-3 value in units mg/m3 may be due to rounding.
