Technical Basis
A review of limited sources identified GHS health hazards for diethylaminoacetone. Additionally, a similar chemical (novol ketone, C9H19NO, CASRN: 105-14-6) acute toxicity data was evaluated as a TEEL-3 basis for this chemical. Data sources were selected according to the hierarchy listed in Table 3.1. Two of the three GHS health hazard categories are 2 (H315, H319), indicating an approximate HHR=3 (79 mg/m3). Considering the TEEL magnitude indicated by GHS health hazard categories, the mouse intravenous LD50 for a similar chemical, (novol ketone) was selected as the TEEL-3 basis for diethylaminoacetone (Section 3.4.6). This toxicity data was evaluated using factors in Tables 3.2, 3.3, and 3.4. TEEL-2 and TEEL-1 values were derived according to Table 3.5.
• TEEL-1 = TEEL-2/11
• TEEL-2 = TEEL-3/6
• TEEL-3 = Mouse intravenous LD50 (CASRN: 105-14-6, 190 mg/kg)
This review generated TEEL-3 and TEEL-2 values that are consistent with Rev. 29A. Minor differences in TEEL-1 values may be due to rounding.
