Professional Bio
Brady Austin is an accomplished fire service professional with over three decades of progressive, dedicated experience. Currently serving as the Deputy Chief of Administration with the Idaho National Laboratory Fire Department, Brady has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence and service throughout his career. His journey in the fire service began in 1992, and he has since served in various capacities across multiple fire departments.
As part of an all-hazards fire department that spans 890 square miles, Brady oversees a team of 90 uniformed personnel providing Paramedic ALS Transport. His extensive credentials include numerous certifications from the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), Pro Board, National Wildfire Coordinating Group, National Fire Academy, Blue Card Command, EMS State/National, and is recognized as an Incident Commander and Operations Section Chief for a Type III Incident Management Team under the National Incident Management System ICS All-Hazards.
In his role as the Fire Department Accreditation Manager through the Commission on Fire Accreditation International (CFAI), Brady has been instrumental in developing the Community Risk Assessment/Standards of Cover (CRA/SOC), the Community-Driven Strategic Planning (Strat Plan), and the Self-Assessment Model (SAM). His academic achievements include a Bachelor of Science in Fire Service Administration from Idaho State University, adhering to the Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education (FESHE) curriculum. He also completed the National Fire Academy’s Managing Officer Program and is currently pursuing a Master of Public Safety Leadership and Administration (Executive Fire Administration) at Arizona State University, with an expected graduation date of December 2025.
Brady’s leadership extends beyond technical and academic realms. He serves as Chair for the Department of Energy (DOE) First Responders Subcommittee, representing first responders across DOE sites. He also holds the position of Secretary/Treasurer for the East Idaho Fire Chief’s Association.
As an Instructor and Evaluator for Fire Service Training with the Idaho Division of Career Technical Education and the Idaho Office of Emergency Management, Brady demonstrates his dedication to training and development within the fire service.
