Michelle Edwards has served in the government sector for over 20 years at the Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Hanford Nuclear Site. Her current assignments include acting as the Resource Manager for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA’s) Region 6 Radiological Assistance Program (RAP). RAP teams provide a nationwide deployment capability to deter, detect and mitigate radiological-based emergencies. In her current role as an Activity Manager for the Hanford Site Emergency Management & Preparedness (EM&P) organization, she is responsible for executing financial objectives by analyzing resource requirements, preparing annual budget proposals, monitoring cost account charges, and performing the function of Buyers Technical Representative for EM&P and RAP contracts. Michelle manages special projects including the development of EM plans, procedures, requirements, results analysis, and schedules. She is also the Hanford Site coordinator for EM external assessments and reviews for both federal contractors to DOE and the Richland Operations Office (DOE-RL). During Hanford Site emergencies, Michelle serves in the Hanford Emergency Operations Center as the Joint Information Center’s Operations Manager.

Prior to working in EM, Michelle held a leadership role with the training design and development team at the Volpentest HAMMER Federal Training Center in Richland, WA. During that time, she served as a liaison with the DOE National Training Center; created instructor certification and qualification programs; and developed a robust training evaluation program that became a model for use across the DOE complex. On a national level, Michelle served as the Secretary to the Energy Facility Contractors Group (EFCOG) Training Working Subgroup.

Michelle is a graduate of Montana College of Mineral Science and Technology, earning a bachelor’s degree in Society and Technology with an emphasis in Technical Editing/Writing.
