Professional Bio
Arelis has 8 years of experience as a Meteorologist and Emergency Response Coordinator with the SRNL Atmospheric Technologies Group. Her main responsibilities include coordinating the development and real-time application of modeling and consequence assessment resources for emergency planning and response, regulatory air quality and dispersion modeling, weather forecasting, and climate assessments for engineering and operational safety applications. Arelis is an active member of the DOE Meteorological Subcommittee (DMSC) and currently serves as the leader of the Consequence Assessment Modeling Working Group (CAMWG) within the DMSC. Her academic background includes a master’s degree in Hydrometeorology from the University of Arizona, Tucson; and a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras.
