Professional Bio

Jerry Weber serves as the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) for the Office of Defense Nuclear Security (NA-70). He serves as the agency-wide mechanism to enable security risk decision makers at all levels to evaluate and act on security risk and opportunities to enhance NNSA mission enablement across the enterprise. Mr. Weber partners with other Program Offices and Field Offices to foster a culture of Risk-based Security Operations (RBSO) to provide a comprehensive understanding of potential risks to the NA-70 program and its impact to execution of NNSA missions. Preceding his role as the CRO for NA-70, he served as the Assistant Manager of Safeguards, Security and Emergency Management (AMSS) at the Nevada Field Office. He was responsible for leading and managing a Federal staff of Safeguards and Security and Emergency Management subject matter experts tasked with the direct oversight and evaluation of multiple contractors and National Laboratories performance of Safeguards and Security and Emergency Management programs at the Nevada National Security Site and other facilities across the United States that accomplish the National Nuclear Security Administration’s missions in stockpile stewardship, nuclear nonproliferation, counterterrorism, treaty verification, nuclear test readiness, national and international emergency response, environmental management, and science and technology development. Prior to joining the Nevada Field Office, Mr. Weber was a contractor who supported Safeguards and Security programs at numerous Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration sites, Field Offices, and Program Offices across the United States. Mr. Weber earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Idaho, Moscow, and a Graduate Certificate in Terrorism Analysis from the University of Maryland, College Park and was the recipient of the 2021 NNSA Linton F. Brooks Medal for Dedication to Public Service for his innovation in security analysis and risk management.
