Professional Bio

Rodney’s background reflects his commitment to public service and expertise as an accomplished emergency manager, military leader/instructor, university professor, and department manager that spans 30+ years within the Emergency Management profession. He is a certified Emergency Manager. Throughout his career he has served in multiple leadership and progressive management capacities at the local, state, and Federal level.

As a retired Marine Corps Chief Warrant Officer, Desert Storm Veteran with a variety of stateside and overseas assignments, he has demonstrated a history of success in leadership positions. He served as Deputy Director of the County Emergency Management Agency, where he led management teams in strategic planning, setting objectives, and meeting critical milestones. He has held Department of Defense Joint Programs Executive Office-Chemical Biological Defense and Headquarters Army/FEMA level emergency management positions that further defined his career.

In his current senior consultant role as the Emergency Management Program Manager, he provides on-site Emergency Management and Security program management to the Department of Energy’s, Environmental Management Los Alamos Field Office. In this role he plans and prepare for all-hazards emergencies, educate staff about preparedness; coordinate the agency’s role in emergency response and recovery; and disseminate emergency information. He has a master’s degree in Emergency & Disaster Management and a Bachelor’s in Business Management, along with many professional certifications in emergency management, exercise management/evaluation, and instruction.
