Professional Bio
Chris has been in the Emergency Management profession for almost 20 years working in law enforcement, public safety, public/private sector security, and emergency management planning. He has been a member of the Nevada National Security Sites Emergency Response Organization for over 10 years in capacities such as Protective Force Lieutenant, Local Emergency Director and Nuclear Operations Supervisor for a Hazard Category 2 Nuclear Facility; Emergency Management Planning Coordinator and currently as Supervisor of the Emergency Management Planning Section. Additionally, He is one of the Documentation Unit Leaders for the NNSS EOC.
In his current position, he oversees 5 Emergency Management Planning Coordinators that are responsible for developing and maintaining 52 Emergency Response Procedures for High Hazard, Elevated Risk, and General Facilities at the NNSS, and Satellite Locations all over the United States. Additionally, his team is responsible for the development and execution of evacuation drills at over 100 facilities at the NNSS and Satellite Locations, that include assets from the NNSS Emergency Response Organization and outside agencies. Lastly, his team is responsible for the training and qualification of approximately 250 Local Emergency Directors in the field level Emergency Response Organization, and approximately 125 Emergency Action Team members that support the Local Emergency Directors.
Chris has been in the U.S. Army for 23 years serving as a Military Police Officer for 17 years, and currently as an Army Reserve Career Counselor Area Leader. He was on Active Duty for 5 years and deployed from 2004-2005 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II.
Chris has a Master of Science Degree in Emergency and Crisis Management from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Homeland Security from American Military University.
Chris is a Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) through the International Association of Emergency Managers and a Nevada Certified Emergency Manager (NVEM) through the Nevada Emergency Preparedness Association.
