Mie Lucas is from Augusta, Georgia. She is a 2008 graduate of Augusta University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She has almost 17 years of Emergency Management experience. She has worked at Savannah River Site since February 2022.
Ms. Lucas became involved with Disaster Relief through a college internship and following graduation, she worked for the American Red Cross in Disaster Relief/Emergency Management following graduation until 2013. In January 2013, she began her career with the Augusta-Richmond County, GA consolidated government, as Deputy Director of the Emergency Management Division. In Augusta, she managed multiple FEMA-declared disaster responses, responded to mutual aid requests across Georgia, and trained residents in preparedness. In December 2020, she was promoted to Interim Emergency Management Director and served in that capacity until December 2021. She has worked at Savannah River Site since February 2022. In July 2022, she was promoted to the Emergency Management Readiness Assurance Manager. Her responsibilities include evaluating the Emergency Management program across SRS, developing and tracking the effectiveness of corrective actions for drills/exercises and self-assessments, coordinating internal and external assessments, managing the Emergency Management Risk Management program, and reporting to federal oversight and company entities.
She has her Georgia Advanced Certificate in Emergency Management (GA A-CEM), is a graduate of FEMA’s Emergency Management Basic and Advanced Academies, and a member of the International Association of Emergency Management. She stays involved in her community by serving as a board member on the Augusta University Alumni Association, serving as a collegiate advisor and national Harm Reduction Specialist for Zeta Tau Alpha, serving as a board member on St. John Towers Advisory Board, and volunteering through the local United Way.
