Professional Bio
Chris is an accomplished emergency management professional with a robust background in radiation protection and military service. Since 2020, he has served as an Emergency Planner, where he has been instrumental in developing and implementing comprehensive emergency response strategies. In this role, he is a member of the Technical Planning Basis and the Consequence Assessment Team, ensuring that emergency plans are grounded in sound scientific principles and effectively address potential impacts on public safety and the environment.
Prior to this role, he dedicated over 20 years to radiation protection as a Radiation Controls Technician, ensuring the safety and compliance of operations involving radioactive materials. Chris proudly retired from the United States Air Force after 23 years of distinguished service, where he held key positions as a Bioenvironmental Engineer and an Aircraft Weapons Systems Specialist. This extensive military experience has equipped him with a unique skill set in risk assessment, safety protocols, and emergency response.
Chris is an active member of several national emergency response teams, including the NEST (Nuclear Emergency Support Team), RAP (Radiological Assistance Program), ARG (Accident Response Group and DFEAT (Disposition and Forensic Evidence Analysis Team). His commitment to public safety and emergency preparedness is evident in his ongoing contributions to these teams.
In addition to his professional roles, Chris serves as an I-RAD instructor for the International Radiological/Nuclear Training for Emergency Response program. This program focuses on training individuals from various government and military agencies to effectively respond to radiological and nuclear incidents, enhancing interagency cooperation and preparedness by bringing together CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear), safety, and environmental stakeholders.
