Professional Bio

Raymond Baez Pares is a seasoned Technical Planning Basis Engineer at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, with prior experience at the Nevada National Security Site, bringing extensive expertise in Emergency Management. An active member of the Emergency Management Issues Special Interest Group (EMI SIG) since 2013, he served as the inaugural Chair of the Subcommittee on Emergency Management Technology (SEMTech) from 2018 to 2021. Under his leadership, SEMTech transitioned from a Working Group to a full Subcommittee, earning recognition as the 2020 EMI SIG Subcommittee of the Year.

In 2021, Raymond played a pivotal role in launching the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Working Groups, driving innovation and collaboration in the field. A dedicated contributor to other key Subcommittees and Working Groups, including CPSC, DMSC, and STARS, he consistently seeks opportunities to foster cross-functional partnerships. Currently serving as the Vice-Chair of SEMTech, Raymond remains committed to advancing emergency management capabilities and promoting impactful collaboration
